During our 13-year tenure we’ve heard hundreds of stories about how organizations have made investments in one wireless technology or another, later to find out that the technology was so severely limited that the investment was wasted. As these limitations mounted up, the technology was often abandoned and never considered again.
Wireless technology implemented correctly can exponentially save your organization money, increase productivity, decrease costs and help your organization sell more goods. If implemented incorrectly, it could cost your organization time, money and ultimately customers.
So how does an organization select the right technology and vendor when there are so many to choose from?
Since 1993, Westlake’s management has assisted companies like Texas Instruments, NEC, Hitachi, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Computer Associates, Nortel, Sprint, AT&T Wireless, American General, HealthNet, and Nextel. Our experience in wireless data technology and our knowledge of networks, devices, peripherals, carriers, etc. are unsurpassed in the wireless industry and help us determine the right wireless solution for your company.
For example, Nextel, the leading provider of wireless data services in North America, has over 190 vendors that offer services that range from Integration, GPS, field forms, sales force automation, field force automation and wireless customer service management systems. Nextel selected Westlake as their integrator and solution provider to help them automate their own field force needs.
Westlake’s basic consulting services are included in the price of the product. Our first step includes a free needs assessment process, which helps us understand more about your goals and specific requirements.
For example, data collection can be accomplished many different ways. Factors to consider are whether the solution should be based on WAP, J2ME or a traditional web browser. In most instances, the need to enter data, even when out of coverage, would drive a customer directly to a J2ME model of implementation. The need to understand employee location would require some sort of location tracking, but maybe not necessitate the need for GPS.
Vendors will often try and sell you what they have, not what you need.
At Westlake, it’s our job to present the best possible solution for your company’s needs. As a wireless integration company, we are uniquely different with a consultive approach to selling. We are comfortable with all technologies available in the wireless industry and can assist you in selecting the best one for you, even if it is not ours.
